Personal Website of Roan Fourie

Roan Fourie is a South African software and automation engineer who works mainly in industrial environments, helping production and operations systems run more reliably and efficiently. He’s spent most of his career in the mining and industrial automation space, building SCADA systems, working with technologies like Aveva System Platform and Siemens PLCs, and bridging the gap between plant-floor reality and modern software solutions.

He started out in electronics and computer systems engineering and gradually moved into automation, software development, and system integration. Over the years, his work has become a mix of engineering, coding, and practical problem-solving often involving Python, scripting, and custom-built tools to solve real-world operational challenges.

Outside of work, Roan enjoys digging into technical and hands-on projects, from embedded systems to DIY electronics. He also spends time doing photography, IPSC-style shooting sports, and competitive chess. He’s the kind of person who learns by building, breaking, and improving things rather than just reading about them.

Faith is the central part of his life. He is a Reformed Christian and serves as an elder in his local church, the Gereformeerde Kerk. He has a strong interest in theological study and spends time engaging with doctrinal discussions and debates within the Reformed tradition. For him, faith is not just a background belief but something he actively studies, reflects on, and lives out in both personal and community life.
